Heroes

This week for Illustration Friday my inspiration was David Bowie. "Heroes" was the first thing that popped into my head, and I really wanted to try to capture just a piece of that song. I was trying to figure out how I was going to draw this, and I ended up working in Photoshop - for the first time! So this is my first finished Photoshop image ever! Woot! Technology can kiss my yellow ass!

Black and White

Black and White - Illustration Friday

This week I had many an idea, none of which (except for the above) came to fruition. I also had "Black or White" by Mr. Michael Jackson, and "Ebony and Ivory" sung by Sir Paul McCartney and Mr. Stevie Wonder stuck in my head since Friday morning. Originally I had an idea which included using some Photoshop, but I couldn't even get the drawing to my liking. (See below.) Plus, the idea I had, a few people already did. So, I guess I'm glad it didn't work out. However, I have another thing to put on my 'to-do list' - learn how to draw figures.

Summer

As soon as I saw the new topic for this week, I thought of Ai Yamaguchi and ukiyo-e. I hate that I'm biting different styles, but I think of it as good practice for me as far as studying lines and shapes and color in order to develop my own style is concerned. Working with paint is a lesson of its own each time - I wish I would have had some painting classes in college so I could understand how to manipulate it better. The scan is pretty crappy because of the acrylic, but with the smaller image it's not so bad.

Digital

Illustration Friday - Digital

This is a loose (a very, very, very loose) interpretation of this week's topic. Originally I wanted to do something that was more along the lines of a comic book format, and there was supposed to be circuit board stuff going on. This is what I ended up with. Meh.

Envy

Wish I would've done this on canvas instead of in my sketchbook. I'm actually pretty happy with the results even though I've been sick sick sick this week. I kind of incorporated last week's theme (aquatic) into this, since I didn't do anything for last week's. Maybe I'll get on that this week.

Mischief

Quick sketch for this week's Illustration Friday...

I don't know why I thought of pyromancy. Seeing it out of the sketchbook makes me realize I really need to concentrate on creating straighter lines.
